The Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement is continuing the Democracy Square. LIVE! program (previously Times Talks) for the Fall 2011 semester. This program engages students in discussions concerning current headlines in the New York Times, USA Today and the Associated Press.

Democracy Square LIVE! consists of discussion-based events in which faculty and students engage in conversation about current topics in the media. The goal of Democracy Square LIVE! is to create more civically-minded students in the classroom and community. By inviting knowledgeable faculty to host these discussions, the hope is to generate lively discussion among students and to provide participants the opportunity to learn from the faculty and from each other.
This program is an offshoot of the Newspaper Readership Program, also sponsored by the Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement. The Newspaper Readership Program partners with The New York Times and USA Today to bring free newspapers to campus for students and faculty.
